چکیده
We show a number of undecidable assertions concerning countably compact spaces hold under PFA(S)[S]. We also show the consistency without large cardinals of every locally compact, perfectly normal space is paracompact.

PFA(S)[S] and Locally Compact Normal Spaces
We examine locally compact normal spaces in models of form PFA(S)[S], in particular characterizing paracompact, countably tight ones as those which include no perfect pre-image of ω1 and in which all separable closed subspaces are Lindelöf.
متن کاملOn Compact Hausdorff Spaces of Countable Tightness
A general combinatorial theorem for countably compact, noncompact spaces is given under the Proper Forcing Axiom. It follows that compact Hausdorff spaces of countable tightness are sequential under PFA, solving the Moore-Mrowka Problem. Other applications are also given.
متن کاملThe structure theory of T 5 and related locally compact , locally connected spaces under the PFA and PFA ( S ) [ S ]
A detailed structure theorem is shown for locally compact, locally connected, hereditarily normal spaces and for normal, locally compact, locally connected, hereditarily ω1-scwH spaces in models of PFA(S)[S], and for the latter kinds of spaces in models of PFA. Corollaries include a powerful refinement theorem like that for monotonically normal spaces, and the corollary that the spaces involved...
متن کاملCountable S*-compactness in L-spaces
In this paper, the notions of countable S∗-compactness is introduced in L-topological spaces based on the notion of S∗-compactness. An S∗-compact L-set is countably S∗-compact. If L = [0, 1], then countable strong compactness implies countable S∗-compactness and countable S∗-compactness implies countable F-compactness, but each inverse is not true. The intersection of a countably S∗-compact L-s...
متن کاملPFA(S)[S]: more mutually consistent topological consequences of PFA and V = L
Extending work of [14, 16, 26], we show there is a model of set theory in which normal spaces are collectionwise Hausdorff if they are either first countable or locally compact, and yet there are no first countable L-spaces or compact S-spaces. The model is one of the form PFA(S)[S], where S is a coherent Souslin tree.
